    Audio Research CD 2

      Click!
This is what your CD player looks like inside. Remove X1 from the main board, you will find it underneath the board, positioned exactly on the middle of this photo.

      Click!
Short pins 13 and 14 on the oscillator IC 74HCU04. Shorten the COAX cable from the LClock kit to about 20 cm (8 Inches). Remove insulation, and connect the screen of the cable to pin 7 of the HCU04. The inner conductor is connected to pin 8 as shown.

      Click!
Connect the red wire to the left pin of 7805 as shown on this photo. Connect the other end of this red wire to +12V in on LClock XO3, it is the screw terminal furthest away from the orange relay. IMPORTANT: cut pin 8 of 74HCU04 on the upper side of the PCB. Should you at some point wish to reverse your upgrade, the LClock XO 3 kit for Audio Research 2 contains a new 74HCU04 for replacement. Anyway a new HCU04 should not cost you more than 1$ in any electronics parts store.

      Click!
Set the solder bubble for 5V operation.

      Click!
Fasten the LClock XO3 a suitable place, and use cable strips to secure the wires. Remember to plug the COAX cable to output of LClock XO3 (closest to the xtal marked: '16.9344').

      Click!
Your player is now ready for operation! When you connect power, the blue LED on LClock XO3 will light up after about 10 seconds to indicate that power is OK. After one or two days you will experience the highest level of sound quality improvements.
